What your future job titles can look like

Technology is shifting from simply being devices in the palm of our hands to something that is almost indistinguishable from our daily lives. As new dimensions of technology are being explored, the opportunities of the future become limitless and could be very different to the jobs of today. If you have not yet found your passion or want to have a glimpse of what your children may be doing in the future, here are some interesting jobs that may inspire you in the future.

Virtual Couture Designer

Being a virtual fashion designer drives people to push their creative bounds. Amidst the pandemic, the world’s first digital fashion house – The Fabricant was born where they design garments that only exist in the virtual space. With the use of 3D technology, these bespoke garments mirror and move exactly like the fabrics in the physical world. Customers can wear these on social media, gaming environments and even virtual worlds in the future. The rise in popularity of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) enables designers to venture into the digital world by selling unique pieces of art for hefty amounts.

Skills needed in the future: To adapt in the world of fashion, we can expect designers to pick up new skills such as virtual 3D designing and also seek human-computer interactions (HCI) degrees which are already being offered by some universities. This interdisciplinary degree focuses on combining computing, behavioural sciences and design by focusing on how humans interact with computer and design technologies.

Augmented Reality Designer

Although AR designers are something that exists in the world right now, its job description is expected to dramatically shift in the upcoming years. From designing games like Pokemon Go, AR designers are expected to design customised AR spaces for customers in the future. As AR will go from existing simply on our smartphones to being integrated with our physical space, there will be an increasing demand for these virtual spaces to be adapted to our own likes and preferences.

Skills needed in the future: In order to create bespoke spaces, AR designers would not only need to specialise in programming skills but also improve their designing and communication skills to connect with clients. It would require a unique blend of people-oriented skills, designing skills and technological skills.

Business to Robots to Consumer Marketing Manager

As the world becomes more dependent on virtual assistants like Alexa and Siri, the world of marketing is changing as AI, voice assistants, robots and digital avatars become the gatekeepers between brands and consumers. In the future where technology closely resembles our own consciousness and makes decisions such as which meal to cook or making health diagnoses, it becomes important for marketing managers to target these robots effectively. This future may not be too far from reality as brands like H&M use chatbots to help customers find clothes as if shopping with a friend.

Skills needed in the future: Along with a marketing degree, marketing managers can be expected to have a deeper understanding on how to develop marketing strategies for voice assistants and also experience with robotic and AI applications.

Autonomous Car Licensed Specialist

According to the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), there are 6 levels of vehicle autonomy ranging from Level 0 to Level 5. Level 0 cars need drivers to be in full control with no autonomous features and make up roughly 80% of the cars on the road today. Level 2 or 3 cars can drive autonomously but only in certain conditions which means that drivers still have to be in control of the car during the travel. Some cars under this would be the Tesla and Audi A8 cars with their autopilot features. Until we reach Level 5 of full autonomy where no control is required by the drivers, special licences are required to operate autonomous vehicles.

Skills needed in the future: People would be required to own specialised licences to operate these vehicles and undergo separate training to do so. Along with being able to operate such vehicles, some may also explore new jobs of creating such vehicles where they would be required to develop autonomous features that can handle any road conditions or weather and have safety protocols in place.

New opportunities are right around the corner with technology being more than just a science and paving its way into creative spaces as well. We can expect to explore a set of skills that may have only been a work of fiction in the past as new jobs are being created at a rapid pace.

WHAT DOES KNOVO HAVE IN STORE FOR THE FUTURE?

As technology rapidly advances, Knovo aims to integrate other services which underpin our mission of allowing more people to access education; maximise benefits for parents, learners and instructors. With an exciting future ahead, the main goal of Knovo remains to bring quality education to everyone where each student can customise their learning experience according to their abilities, skills, and preferences.

Knovo develops tools that mimic classroom experiences in virtual spaces while ensuring that learners and instructors do not feel anything is missing from their learning and teaching journey. By incorporating more assessment and testing methods, instructors can track individual student progress and tweak their methods to best suit their learners.

Learners would also be encouraged in taking control of their own learning with new and unique programs being offered. By incorporating a larger instructor pool, learners can pave their own learning experiences with a plethora of choices in front of them.

Technology is increasingly blending into our daily lives and hence integrating gamification experiences to enhance learning is something Knovo aims to explore in the future as well. This integration allows the learning experience to become more than just books and quizzes and into a world with limitless ways to consume knowledge.

In this technology transition era, Knovo is relentlessly working with partners to support better blended learning experiences for their learners. To find out more about these classes, click on this link.

WHAT IS WEB 3.0?

Our current world exists in Web 2.0 where it is possible to create user-generated content and promote interactivity and social connectivity. However, the internet space is dominated by a small number of firms that control how content is created, viewed, distributed and the data collected in the process.

Web 3.0 aims to solve this limitation by decentralising and limiting dependency on platform providers. Users become owners of their data and are allowed to choose how it is used. It will also encourage a “bottom-up design” where rather than a few experts write and control code, it would be developed in the eyes of the public which encourages maximum participation and full transparency with users.

By building on these core concepts, Web 3.0 seeks to change how the future generation will view and use the internet where users can expect the power over the internet to shift from giant corporations to individual users.

This paradigm shift will provide students with a plethora of new options for consuming knowledge and for instructors to create more engaging content with the help of a variety of resources. Here at Knovo, we are looking forward to leveraging this change to make the learning and teaching experience the best it’s ever been.
