About The Championship

Attention all high school debaters aged 13 – 17, from anywhere in the world.

If you’re looking for an accessible, competitive and enjoyable tournament that promises excellent motions, an amazing Adjudication Core and a fantastic judge pool – then look no further. Introducing the inaugural RedDot Open Online Debate Championship!

If you’re looking to develop as a high school debater and WSDC hopeful, or are just looking to sharpen your toolkit before the upcoming World Schools Debate Championship 2023, this tournament is specially for you. All levels of experience are welcome and encouraged to join.

With 5 preliminary rounds, and a competitive break – this is your chance to test your mettle against the best of teams, enthrall the judges with your wit and sophistication – and emerge as the first ever RedDot Open Debate Champions.

Platforms: Zoom & Discord (Backup)

Dates: 9th – 11th June 2023

Participants: Open to all aged 13 – 17

Prizes: Certificates, and 500USD in cash or preferred vouchers

Registration Fee: 60 USD per person (54 USD per person if you register by 30th April)

Format: 8 minutes substantive speeches, WSDC format

Our RedDot Open Online Debate Championship Chief Adjudication Panel

Huw Jones – previously competed in three WSDCs with Team Wales, currently serving as the Deputy Chief Adjudicator for this year’s World Schools Debating Championships. In 2022, he was a member of the Motions Committee. He has remained actively involved in the WSDC community and has judged the Grand Finals of several competitions, such as the Hong Kong Debate Open, Winter Holidays Open, EurOpen and the Oldham Cup. Furthermore, he has served as a Core Adjudicator at numerous tournaments, including those held in the UK at Oxford Schools and Cambridge Schools, and internationally, such as HKPDS and the Oldham Cup.

Announcing the 2nd member of our Chief Adjudication Panel, Ruth Selorme!

She stepped into the debating world during the heights of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, and 3 years down the line she is DCA for Vietnam WSDC, was CA for Bates NAUDC, is a Nepal Australs and Malaysia UADC breaking judge, chaired the open finals of SANSDC 2021 and EurAsian Schools 2023, and judged the Open Finals of the 2023 editions of WUDC , HWS RR, and NAUDC. Selorme is also an Uhuru Worlds Open Quarter finalist, Habib Pre-WUDC Champion, and DAIC Open ESL Finalist.

In a short amount of time, Selorme has gone from learning the rules of debating, to dictating the rules of debating. From her credentials, she’s been nothing short of brilliant, exceptional, dedicated, outstanding, and focused. She’s a debate power pack filled with tabbing, judging, speaking, equity, and CAing skills.

Announcing the 3rd member of our Chief Adjudication Panel, Tamkeen Nawab!

Tamkeen is an accomplished debating expert and has earned a well-deserved place on the CAP for Vietnam WSDC 2023. Her impressive credentials include serving as the CA for various prestigious events, such as Oldham Cup 2023, SIDO 2022, and Cambridge Schools 2022, among many others.

Tamkeen has chaired the Grand Finals at WSDC 2022, and has also earned recognition as a judge at several notable competitions, including WSDC 2020 and 2021, Argo Open 2021, Cambridge IV 2021, Doxbridge III 2021, ABP 2020, and Monash Australs.

Additionally, Tamkeen has chaired finals at esteemed events such as UADC 2021, Hong Kong Debate Open 2021, and Oldham Cup 2021, to name just a few. Her extensive experience and expertise in the field of debating make her a highly respected and sought-after member of the debating community.
